My younger son thinks his brother is just copying what he says and gets very angry which causes a ripple affect for Davis. What can I do?
I like Autie4Lyfe train of thought
Explain that brains are different:
Use analogies like "everyone's brain is like a unique recipe" or "some people's brains are like a computer that processes information differently".
Explain that autism is a different way of thinking, seeing the world, and interacting with others.
With Superheroes being popular you could Focus on strengths and unique abilities: Highlight the positive aspects of autism, such as intense focus, unique perspectives, and special talents. And then make sure you say what your 5-year-old is special too.
I would explain to your younger son that his older brother has his own operating system. Liken it to Android versus Apple, for example. Show him that part of his operating system entails him copying what others say as a way of processing the information. Hope this helps :)
Thank you everyone. That helps a lot. @A MyAutismTeam Member I'm so sorry for your loss.
