A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 11, moderate to severe on the spectrum, verbal, reads, he is very delayed in comprehension, pre-k level. After years of awful IEPs meetings, mediations, due process still school doesn't address his most significant needs. Last two years/teachers they don't bring any creativity or innovative thinking to bring this kids to the real outside world, don't teach anything functional or meaningful, don't think outside the box, he has many goals on his IEP to address his needs but don't see… read more

Therapies
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter is 7 and on the spectrum. She does have behavior issues, with some kicking and lots of screaming. I can't seem to find ANY ABA therapies or anywhere to get help for her anywhere. I live in a small town in Kansas and there doesn't seem to be much help around here without driving a good hour or more for it. She just started talking this summer, a variety of words, and is almost done with the 1st grade. I just wish there was something out there that could help us with her… read more

Does Anyone Have A Child With Asd And Anxiety?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 9 yrs old boy had few anxiety /panic attacks when he is close to the elevator, escalator and some stairs. Sometimes I need to wait 10/30 minutes until he is ready to use the escalator. He is afraid to sleep alone, can't even go to the restroom alone someone must go with him . He's having many potty accidents at school, his explanation is that he can't hold it, there's dead bugs in the lights of the restroom and he is scared. Any suggestions?

A MyAutismTeam Member

My child also harbours many fears, and he is genuinely violently afraid, but because they are unusual, it's difficult to get others to understand he's frightened. He's afraid of public toilets because… read more
