My 4-year-old daughter stopped speaking 8 months ago. I have taught her and my husband sign language after about a month of not speaking anymore. She talked for a week and a half better than she ever did shortly after I began to teach it only for it to stop again. It took 5 months of fighting to get 2 play evaluations and a proper question and answer session with psychologists. Play therapy justvstarted a week ago. They have given a temporary diagnosis of autism because they say an official… read more

My child is about to start school, he is 6 years now, diagnosed with Autism at the severe end. During the last 4 years we had an IBI/ABA at home and he was for a while in a Nursery school. He is non-verbal, but able to communicate with an iPad and pictures. A lot of sensory issues, but overall a very gentle and well behaved child, no big meltdowns, no aggressive behavior
He was placed in a class for kids with mild disabilities. The other option was an Autism (only) class, but we were not… read more
