IFSP
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I recently received a call from DDA services wanting to set up and Individual and family service plan (IFSP) for my son. Has anyone ever had this and does anyone know what this would entail? Or how I should prepare?

I Was Wondering If Anyone Has Kaiser Insurance?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been trying to get my son's speech therapy started for months now. They just keep reevaluating him and saying he just not ready yet. He is 3 and needs it bad. His ABA supervisor thinks he is ready. I just don't know what to do we've done everything they asked us to. Wondering if this is just what Kaiser does and their no hope of them starting it. Thanks in advance

For those who do not make a lot of money, there is the medicaid buy-in which can serve as a secondary insurance. Unfortunately I make more than the income cap. Too poor to be rich and too rich to be… read more

Why Is There No One Speaking Up In Favor Of Parental Right Not To Vaccinate?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

With the recent measeles outbreak, the vaccination debate has started once again. It doesn't seem like much of a debate, however since the right not to vaccinate doesn't seem to be saying anything. Why is there no one speaking out? The only one that has spoken out on parental rights was Rand Paul.

Here's my take on the vaccination debate, as of this moment. Like every single medication or other man-made substance out there, MOST children can get their vaccines & have no major issues, but some… read more

A MyAutismTeam Member

We used Speak Smooth (liquid version of Speak) with great results. Unfortunately, the taste made my son gag and spit it out or vomit if we made him swallow. The smell will NOT come out of clothing… read more

Can A Child Have Autism And ADHD?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

How can you tell which symptoms are which? Do I request a second diagnosis? Why?

A MyAutismTeam Member

Yes my son takes Adderall and it works great, no side effects to speak of. He has been on it since about 5 and he is 10 now. We have changed the dosage a few times but it is noticeable if he does not… read more

Suggestions On How To Deal With Tantrums
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 6 yr old grandson has started having temper tantrums every time he is told, No, that he can't have what he wants. He is nonverbal and actually gets so angry that he tries to squeeze your arm or whatever part of your body is accessable and on occasion has even bitten. All this going on, while yelling at the top of his lungs. Telling him to go sit in his chair, does nothing but make him angrier and if you try to take him to sit down, he just stiffens his whole body and stays in the spot or… read more

SOunds so familiar. My son is tantruming so bad now. His tantrums seem to stem off of his OCD and sensory issues as well as just behavioral. Its so hard to know how to minimize this since its… read more

Team Sports?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Any recommendations for sports involvement for a 4 year old with ASD? My son loves to be active and play outside, and he seems to have some natural ability in his coordination. I would love to give him an opportunity to try a team sport. I'm not sure he's ready yet, but are there any specific sports that have worked well for your child with ASD?

Addition. ATA had leaderships programs that help them in their social interaction which applies in our everyday life.
