I am at a loss. He is different since having his seizure in October. Some good, he peepees and poops independently now. However, he used to watch videos independently on the computer and he has totally stopped! I never thought I would have encourage my son to watch TV! He just sits there, usually doing nothing. We try to engage him and all he says is thank you. More worrisome to me is the fact that he doesn't really eat. He used to help himself to snacks and ask for soda. He no longer… read more

My son has a habit of scripting a lot. From the moment he wakes up, he repeats phrases he saw on TV, repeat some answers we have him, or repeats he what he wants to do for the day. This lasts pretty much all day.
When people see him and ask him a question, he typically ignores as he is so occupied with the scripting.
Anyone experience this with their child and is this just a phase? This is really hindering his ability to learn so Im pretty concerned about this.

Hi Guys we relocated to Idaho and love it. But in about 4 yrs we are thinking about moving to Seattle. What are the best school districts and DDAs services?
Having some time to talk with parents who have done this for a while, almost all recommend Bellevue over Lake Washington
Does anyone here get 1:1 clinic based speech therapy for their ASD kid through the school district (either in addition too or in lieu of the one offered in school- group or private).
If so, could you please explain to me how you got the district to pay for this service & how I can have it written into my sons IEP?
My son does. They had too. Only because he cannot be around other students for more than 5 minutes due to him totally shutting down. This doesnt help you, Im sure. But it can be done.
We are still trying to make a decision as to whether we should send our son to a private preschool or to the special needs preschool in our district. Has anyone tried any other alternatives for preschool or tried a co-op preschool?
Does anyone have any recommendations of private preschools in the Los Angeles/ Pasadena area that cater to special needs kidos?
Thank you guys! We are considering the shadow option or possibly a ABA instructor with him
I'm going to a preschool fair Sat. So maybe I'll get more info. I did contact the Help Group awhile ago but… read more
An acting Chief of Staff at Larabida Children's Hospital called our house on Monday. He and 2 other doctors we dismissed got together and decided to call the house while I was not there and try and intimidate my daughter into finding another medical facility to go to. It appears that the doctor along with two others we have dismissed at Larabida Children's Hospital became very upset that our family gave them horrible ratings on Healthgrades.com and Facebook as well as Instagram. My twin… read more
Just an update....we are now at another facility that was suggested to us. The other parents and administrators that we spoke with felt that in the best interest of the twins, it was not necessary to… read more
Does anyone know any good private elementary school in Orlando that work well with special needs kids?
@A MyAutismTeam Member thank you so much for your response
Autism speaks puts their donated funds into researching how to eradicate autism. Not something I will ever support. Can anyone tell me if this website is affiliated with them??
This website tends to have a wide range of opinions and information. It's not dominated by one school of thought or group which I find refreshing. Too many websites out there with an agenda and… read more
