How Can I Make That My Son's Teacher Or One On One Aide Write/answer More Specifics About What His Days Are Like Not Just His Daily Schedu
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is verbal but not to the point where he can remember details or be more specific, he can be bullied or have an accident or an issue at school and I would never find out unless the school let me know about it. I run with the same issue every year, different teacher but same attitude, when I write in my sons daily journal asking about some input on his behaviors, whether the reinforcers we sent are working, which ones is he using, why, and how questions, they won't answer back, I get a… read more

The counseling is a definite must - we have been looking. There isn't much here to choose from - not anyone who has experience in this area. Our pediatrician suggested that we go to one of those 2… read more

Birthday And Christmas Gifts Ideas
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son's birthday and Christmas is coming soon and my relatives are asking for ideas for gifts for him instead of gift cards. This is my odd problem, my son gets upset if we ask him to make a wish list at Amazon or ThinkGeek and says he wants nothing. In the past we asked for family memberships to the zoo, science museum, history museum, children's museum, etc. or gift cards to AMC or Barnes & Noble. Looking to brainstorm gift alternatives.

My son is only 6, but I make the list. I see what he wants, and then I pass it on. I come up with the ideas with him. Of course, he wants everything! I actually suggested to him that he ask for… read more

Is Watching "three Stooges" Bad For My Son?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son loves watching the three stooges, however he tends to want to imitate them. We have taught him it is OK to play "stooges" with daddy but not other people as they don't like to get boinked. Our ABA tells us he should not even be allowed to watch them. I believe he needs a sense of humor. I have tried to use "three stooges" as a reward, and limit his exposure but he has all the lines memorized anyway.

I banned South Park because my son "scripted" the show, although not the most wholesome show, if he has behaved himself, we don't change the channel if the rest of the family is watching. can stay and… read more

How To Stop My Son From Stimming So Much.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is stimming so much it is stopping him from learning anything. He is running close to things and watching out of the corner of his eyes at the things he passes such as rails on bar chairs, table tops, anything at his eye level. And anything he gets in his hands he turns over and over in circles. First it was just shapes like squares or triangles. Now its everything, balls, cars, books, my cell phone. I can't stop him from doing it. I have put up so much stuff and he just keeps finding new… read more
