To Mainstream Or Not To Mainstream?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a question for parents who have or had a high functioning, fully verbal autistic preschooler. My little boy has been in ABA since March and has made amazing gains, so much so that there are days I feel he doesn't even fit his diagnosis anymore, or that he could lose it at some point. So much joint attention and interaction with us, his family, so much affection, eye contact, you name it. He has no behavior issues, and no sensory issues. He tested at 4 yrs old in receptive and expressive… read more

Do Children With Autism Qualify For Some Kind Of State Health Insurance?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My step daughter is almost 13 and we are "shopping" for health insurance right now. We do not qualify for Medi-Cal and the price is way to high through my husband's work. I applied to Kaiser for her and they want to charge us double for the premium due to her having autism. Someone recently told me that she should be able to get free or low cost health insurance because of having autism. But I haven't really found anything online that has been helpful with answering my questions. I'm wondering… read more

Insurance Wont Cover ABA Therapy? Has Anybody Appealed This And Got This Overturned?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Sorry, if this has been asked before.

My son (he will be three soon,) is currently having speech and occupational therapy, but I would really like him to have ABA Therapy, as I have heard that it works really well for children with autism.

I have BlueCrossBlueShield Of Illinois health insurance, which I get through my husband's employer. They have told me, that they don't cover this, so I feel at a dead end. The only options I have, are to go with another insurance provider who do cover this… read more

my son has had life insurance from American Income Life since he was 3 months old ! We were recently re evaluated my husband upped our policy and our sons! We got a letter back 3 days ago starring they can't insure him but gave us no explanation on there letter to why! I've called our agent thee times with NO response back!

We never mentioned he had autism! They never asked. We didn't think it would be an issue cause he's had it for three years!
