Public VS Private Schools
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm trying to transfer my daughter from NJ Public School District to Philadelphia, since Philadelphia's Public School District doesn't have good references. I would like to enroll my daughter into a private school, where she can continue receiving her current services and good quality treatment. I was wondering if anyone here could give me any advice on how I can make this process a little less… read more

Moving To Pennsylvania
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Can anyone tell me what are the best places to live ? Right now we're concentrating on Mt Lebanon, South Fayette and Monroeville. We'd consider other areas too.

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My family and I are moving to Pennsylvania from Florida in early January. My son is going to be 4 years old and is in pre-k. His next IEP meeting is at the end of November. The services written into the IEP will not go into affect until we are in Pennsylvania. The school in Pennsylvania is also planning on doing an IEP however the one we bring with us will be active for several weeks. I'm not sure how to handle this next IEP meeting. Do I treat it like any other even though the services I… read more

http://chestnuthilllocal.com/blog/2012/07/25/au.... I am interested in providing info to DPW and the PA Legislature, so that they realize this should not happen. Many PWA are functioning optimally in the current programs and will be seriously harmed by institutionalization. On the basis of cost to the State, alone, the existing programs cost about $100,000 less per year than… read more
