Anyone looking for this (or anything else) should really use Google which is an AWESOME tool. Google "Aspergers" and "scholarship" and you'll find several things, including this good program:

"In 2008, the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) introduced the Schwallie Family Scholarship Program to support the post-secondary, undergraduate education of qualified individuals with an autism spectrum diagnosis. As of November 1, 2012, OAR has awarded a total of $260,500 to 84 students from across the country through this program. Supported initially through gifts from the family of OAR Board member, Ed Schwallie, the scholarship fund has also received generous support from the Lisa Higgins Hussman Foundation in each of the last four years."

So no one has found a specific scholarship for kids with Aspergers or HFA?

My son tried college but was unable to handle the organizational requirements needed to be successful.. He resisted prompting etc and support services offered. I was never able to find any scholarships for autism.. and although CLe offers help it is for their program which is added to the cost of the college tuition.. My vocational center was unwilling to contribute to the CLE program which would have been ideal.. If you have enough money you can find the supports for your child to be successful in college.. We, unfortunately, weren't that fortunate.

wow that sounds wonderful! my daughter is a senior in Citrus County FL, we are registered with VR as well. They have had some changes in administration in our office, but had said they would help with college expenses. I would google autism scholarships and see what you find. It is going to be one of my projects over christmas to look for scholarships for autism. There are a few for students with disabilities that I found, but the cutoff date was November 15th. I'm scared too, my daughter is going to stetson, so I think the transition will be hard for me as well...

First make sure you fill out the fafsa form for grants/scholarships, depending on where your child is going to school will make a difference. Ask the college about any scholarships for kids with disabilities or incoming Freshman. Our kids are not usually very athletic, but in some smaller colleges there may be sports, music, drama, etc types of scholarships available. There may be some local scholarships available. You could check with the guidance counselor at school. Many organizations like Elks club, 4-H, Legion, Bank, etc will have smaller scholarships, but they all add up. Bigger companies also have scholarships that are available. There are also some ethnic scholarships available. Western Fraternal life gives college scholarships.
