My son is almost 10 and he still loves his trains. Since he's getting older, we're trying to move into big boy trains, but I love that he enjoys something like trains instead of wanting to play with toy guns. We never leave home without trains. We use them for rewards. And when he gets money for chores, we usually know exactly what he'll spend it on. His teachers have even used them in school. I think some family would get a little frustrated because for his birthday they would say stuff like "But we always get him trains." I think, however, they've learned and understand that he could be stuck on something a lot worse and now they know those trains can be pretty helpful. His grandfather is even getting into trains himself and has plans to build a big train table.
yes sweetie it VERY NORMAL my child has a lil cowgirl that she take with her everywhere lol
It started with a cat nap blankie, a cotton blanket with cats on it I bought to cover him when it was nap time. He was less than a year old. He still uses it to cover his lap when he is at the computer he is 14 going on 15 in september. It is that or the thread bare snuggie I bought as a joke several years ago. I hope he can deal without it in high school because he won't be able to have it in school. My Aspie boy is over smart so I worry about the teasing.
My son is nine and he refuses to sleep without his miniature stuffed Brant baby chameleon. He has to hold him when he sleeps.
Absolutely! Autistic children project emotions onto objects. My oldest had buttons that he called "my friends" for the longest time! He outgrew it, eventually.
