@AngelieS...good advice. When my 4yr old gets upset, the best thing I can do is remain calm (easier said than done). Since I'm with him pretty much 24/7, I usually can tell what set him off. I always try to get HIM to figure out how he feels or why he is upset. I remind him that it is okay to have those feelings. After that, I'll ask him 'what can you do next time you feel this way?'...hoping to teach him self coping skills or a replacement behavior that is more acceptable.

I found very interesting, is her meltdowns happen in the stores. The further we go into the back of a store,the more she gets upset. I was in a store that had large windows behind the tills, she did incredible. Maybe the feeling of being confined, or the ablility to see the outside makes her feel less vulnerable. It was a great day.

it is so hard to stay calm. She has bad meltdowns and because of limited communication skills I feel so awful for her
