The lactation nurse was the one who gave me the recommendation of which ENT to see for my kids' frenulectomies. So even if your child is no longer nursing, you could ask around lactation nurses to see if they have anybody they know of who does the procedure.

All 3 of my kids had the procedure. With my 1st and 3rd it was done in infancy and was literally 30 seconds requiring nothing more than Novocaine. With my 2nd, it wasn't done until he was older and it required general anesthesia. He was the only one who had articulation disorder, and his SLP attributed it to a late frenulectomy.

I just realized this too. My Son has a heart shaped tongue as well.

Okay - so I probably need to have him evaluated by a speech language pathologist!!!! His ENT blew me off and didn't even ask me any questions indicating he even knew anything about the issue because my son had issues with breastfeeding as a baby and I got mastitis 5 times and no one in my circle of friends or professionals knew that could be a sign of a frenulum problem! The things parents have to figure out for themselves sometimes....argh - I'm so glad I have My Autism Team now! :)
