No Denomination, One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. My model is the Love and Compassion Jesus showed to all that was hurting. Just follow Christ as your model and you will not go wrong.

I am in Virginia, a few hours from you, but I find it interesting that you are starting a ministry. I have been doing this here in VA for a while now. I have also written two books, "Fringe: My Life as a Spirit-Filled Christian with Asperger's Syndrome" and "The Christian Aspie: Notes from the Blog." They are on Amazon.

Currently, my husband and I are putting together a ministry for Bible study and I am assembling a group of adult Aspies in my area. We do talk to some families as well and are planning an event at our church later this year or next year. I created several activities that help people better understand what it is like to have AS.

I am a Christian with Asperger's. I am also working on a book right now about Aspies and church.

BLESS YOU!For starting a ministry for families with special needs. I cannot begin to tell you the problems I've had trying to find a church for acceptance, it's been hard. Going from church to church. But did not allow the people's words or actions to discourage me. That's what the enemy what's you to do is give up, an I refuse. I just what to share that here in Virginia, is a support group for families with this very same issue. The website is called www.faithinclusionnetwork.org .I'm not sure how far the website reaches, but it includes churches from all faiths that cater to families with special needs. Hope this helps. I am happy somebody is trying to bring in special needs people to Christ.
I lived in Virginia for most of my life and attending many churches growing up. When my wife and I learned my son was on the Spectrum we starting to look for churches that had services for our son. We where blessed that my sister attended a church with a special needs nursery and had respite care. We learned our Pastor has a daughter with special needs so he made it is top priority to have a place for parents to bring their special needs child so they could could partake in worship service.
When we left his project Jill's House was almost finished. It is very similar to the concept of the Ronald McDonald House. It's a place where parents can drop off their child to be cared for by specialist while they take a vacation or go out for the evening. What a blessing it was to meet a very compassion man who loves the Lord and His children. We greatly miss our church and pastor. I do go on-line to hear his sermons but it's not the same as being there.
I know it's costly to add on a nursery for special needs children but God loves all children so churches could find a way to accommodate these children so they can hear the sermon.
