Does anyone know of any schools in Illinois who will work with children on the spectrum? I live in the southsuburban area of chicago and have just had an issue with their school that has left my two boys without placement. I don't want them to fall behind after making so much progress. I am willing to relocate even out of state if need be.

Members rallied around someone searching for schools in Illinois that could support their two young sons on the autism spectrum after losing their placement at a special education co-op, with many offering specific program recommendations including Our Lady of Humility in Zion, Easter Seals locations in Rockford and Tinley Park, Chicago Education Project, KESET in Northbrook, and the MidValley Co-op serving Saint Charles and surrounding areas. Several members emphasized the importance of knowing legal rights through resources like Wrightslaw and Equip for Equality, particularly when navigating school district boundaries and funding disputes that can leave families without options. A recurring theme was the community's determination to help this parent find both educational support and affordable housing, acknowledging the added challenge of being a single stay-at-home parent relying on SSI income while trying to secure the best placement for children who had been making real progress.

I am not sure if Easter Seals does ABA, but they have schools in Rockford, Tinley Park and one downtown. I interned at the one in the city several years ago and thought it was great.
