CIGNA Does Not Cover ABA For My PDD NOS Son. What Do I Do?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son was diagonsed with PDD NOS. I have found an ABA provider. But my insurance (CIGNA International) does not cover ABA. What do I do?

SSI is not going to cover ABA treatment and neither is medicaid if you were wondering! In Utah - 9 parents last year gave their children to state care not being able to get insurance to cover it. However, sometimes you can find an alternate method of treatment that is much cheaper to implement and more effective at the same time. We found that answer in www.autismtreatmentcenter.org. There are other alternatives to ABA.

Our insurance does not cover ABA since we are self insured, however we were able to get ABA through state services.

I agree that ABa is not the only answer.. but if i were you I would research ABA methods on youttube, there are A LOT of good videos, and try to implement these with your child. Also, often times you can get into an ABA parent training session for next to no money and that will help you implement on your own at home.

I have the same POS insurance. Trust me THEY LIE about anything then give you the run around.

I suggest 1 apply for ssi and other availible assistance.
2 research state aid and other programs. Wi has CLTS which is ment for children with intensive care needs Ct may have something similar

In Wi you need ssi/medicaid waiver to qualify for the state program that DOES cover aba
