My DD was super-picky until we took her off gluten and dairy. I really think there is something to the whole opiates theory where the child gets addicted to the "high" gluten and dairy cause to the point where they refuse other foods. Once we switched to GFCF, she became much more willing to eat a variety of foods, even things she had previously refused. She still isn't a perfect eater but she's way better than she was a year ago.

I have been dealing with my son's eating issues lately too. He's normally a pretty good eater but in the last 2-3 months he has decided that he is tired of eating some of the foods that were previously staples of his diet and refusing to replace them with any new foods. Anyway, here's an article that I found with some ideas I plan to try myself. Good luck :)

My son has eating sensory issues, he has grown 8 inches in the last year and has only gained 5lbs which was concerning for his doctor. He just won't eat foods he use to eat. She sent us to see a dietitian. At this point i have offered him things to at least try, or maybe even say please take just one small bite of this and then you can have whatever it is he will only eat... it's worth a shot, but note at times it could cause a meltdown and it could be a sensory thing with him too, but at this point with the weight gain not being there i'm doing everything to get him what he will eat. I was also told to mix wheat germ in things i can because it's tasteless and odorless and that has loads of vitamins and minerals they need :) if you have a good doctor you might ask them for help on it and it's possible to send your child to food therapy, mine went for awhile. i wish you the best of luck

I feel for you. My son started out eating everything up until around 3yrs. Then he self restricted down to only 5 foods and they had to be very specific, McD fries and the center only of white bread. At age 7 after exhausting all options the drs told us he needed a g-button for elemental feedings because he was in danger of malnutrition. He is almost 12 now and still has a g-button. We have and are trying everything available to change this. We have been told he is one of the toughest cases the therapists has seen. After a year 1/2 of two types of therapy weekly he was only touching a cheerio to his cheek. You cannot imagine the guilt I feel on not being able to feed my child. I sincerely hope it gets better for you.

My wife bribed Lil' D into trying a bite of turkey today. He was surprised about how good it really was and took two more small peices. My wife was so happy, we really do wish he would eat more of what we do but he also calls everything big peoples food just as he does TV shows. He is a bit over wieght for his size but he is also quite stalky. Fortunately he loves fruit and chicken nuggets, but everything else changes up once in a while sometimes for weeks at a time. Like go from waffles to cerial or from french fries to cheese sticks, this makes it very difficult to stock up for him. The doctors that said he would eat what we do after he gets hungry enough were wrong, so many people tell us to do things that they would not do to their own children it is frightening to think they are actually that uncaring. There are times I take out all the stops and grab everything I've known him to eat to see what he will want.
