Hey All! I am looking for ideas for a gluten free, dairy free drink for my 3yo son with ASD. I googled it and found OneSource- it is lactose free but made from milk. He is not lactose intolerant.. it is a full-on dairy allergy. No whey or casein so that isn't going to work. I know there has to be SOMETHING out there along the lines of Boost or Ensure.. with his autism he is VERY particular about what he will eat. I have him on a multivitamin but I feel like I need to do more. Any suggestions?

Don't even bother with the neocate...it just impossible to drink it taste awful...try other milks. Even thought it doesn't have many calories as ensure, they are really good for autistic kids. I will recommend you Hemp milk, almond milk (if he's not allergic) rice milk or coconut milk...specially the hemp and coconut milk because they are the safest, healthiest and taste as good as the drinks you're giving him. My son was living on pediasure and we switch to hemp..in just a few weeks the change was incredible and he started to eat foods. Here's the trick...we put a little bit of hemp milk in his bottle of pediasure then gradually we increased the amount until it was only hemp milk and we allow him to see that we were mixing his drink when it was almost only milk so he knew it that taste good...we called it "the new tetete" (he called pediasure tetete) and it just took a few days to made the change. Do not rely your son's nutritional needs on those drinks...that was the worst mistake with made when we started with the pediasure, I still regret that decision. Add some enzymes and probiotics to the diet. You're doing a lot with the vitamins. Good luck!

EleCare Vanilla Flavored Powder is what we use. Expensive as well but it is primarily our son's only nutrition.

It is super-expensive but look into E028 Splash: https://www.neocate.com/shop/p-24-e028-splash.aspx
