Are There Any Major Concerns/debates On Having Our Autistic Children Vaccinated For The Flu? This Topic Really Worries Me!
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is four, autistic, and desperately waiting for that "Medical" diagnosis. I'm really concerned about the "vaccination" debates on giving them to autistic children and have stopped allowing him to be vaccinated until I am more educated and confident in my decision. Now I'm terrified of the flu and how well he can deal with it. I believe he is in the beginning stages of having it and I'm real close to kicking myself in the rear!!

What are the concerns on this and is the flu shot as… read more

We have never gotten any of our kids or the adults in the house a flu shot. None of my kids have ever had the flu. If you think you child is coming down with something Vitamin C, Zinc and Echinacea tea with honey and lemon work wonders. As do raw garlic in honey.

My sons doctor just told me the other day that the flu shot did contain mercury.

We do not get the flu shots. It doesn't stop you from getting it just lessens the severity. All 3 of my boys H1N1 last year and we did just fine. They bounced back rather quickly.

The flu vaccination does nothing if your child already has the flu. There is disagreement in the scientific community on just how effective flu vaccinations are. It's important to distinguish between the two types of influenza virus. Type A is the serious form of the flu that can cause death in children and the elderly. Type B is the less serious, much milder form that usually comes and goes in about 24 hours. The flu vaccination only works against Type A flu, and in that respect it is only about 50% effective. A contributing factor that may explain why half of kids who get the flu shot still get sick with the flu is Vitamin D. Naturally-produced Vitamin D from sunlight exposure boosts the immune system and has been shown to either keep un-vaccinated kids from getting the flu, or to cause a quick turnaround resulting in fewer days lost staying home from school because they were sick.

@ MissValerie-

Your question caught my attention because I've always had a fear of giving the flu shot to my son Cody, and he is 31 years old! ;) Cody has had the flu a few times in his life. One time he ended up in the hospital because his high fever caused him to have a seizure. I go back and forth every year about whether or not it is worth it to give Cody the flu shot and every year I opt out. I think I'm afraid that the shot itself will make Cody sick, or seize, or both.

I also noticed your comment about having MS. My husband has MS as well. I think we may be able to help each other, so I'd like to add you to my team.
