I would keep that dr for regular issues. But I do think getting a developmental specialist who is familiar w treating autism is a good idea. They will understand all the things you will read and may be able to help you make decisions on things you may not understand.

Consulting a biomedical doctor was absolutely one of the best things we have done for our DD. We saw dramatic improvements literally within days of adding certain supplements. Now not everything our biomed dr. has tried has resulted in big improvements (methyl B12 has only mildly helped her), but certain ones led to big gains. 6 months we worked on potty-training with only a bit of progress. Start her on Nystatin and BOOM! Within a week she was daytime trained.

I changed my boys pediatrician several years ago to a developmental pediatrician.... It was a wonderful move for them, and for me...

My DD has multiple doctors. Our general pediatrician handles all the routine health issues (well-child checkups, infections, etc.) We also see an integrative neurodevelopmental pediatrician who specializes in treating ASD from a biomedical standpoint. He follows much of the Defeat Autism Now! (DAN) protocol but disagrees with certain treatments like chelation and hyperbaric oxygen. He handles all her ASD treatment. At some point, we may need to consult a psychiatrist but right now we are trying to avoid the use of pharmaceuticals.

yes i would but keep in touch with your family dr he/she may beable to help you find the new dr you need.
