Our school is celebrating Autism awareness month full force but we have run out of ideas of activities we can do to help bring awareness. Please throw me some of your thoughts/ideas on this. They need to be appropriate for pre-K through 5th grade. Also need to be short and sweet to fit into an already overloaded schedule. We are handing out ribbons, giving daily facts during announcements, having a breakfast for teachers, wearing support colors or shirts.
I dont know if you seen the YouTube video of "My Name Is David"....ASTOUNDING video that was created in a cartoon(like Gumby) form and features the actual voice of a child living with Autism explaining what he goes through, how he deals with it and how others (his classmates) could help him even while they play.I personally love the video and felt as if it was something alot of people, educational systems and children/peers could use to help for awareness. You should check it out :)
Thanks, MyZettel and JasmineS
