Moving To Colorado Springs...
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

So we will be PCSing in August to Colorado Springs. I know that it is a choice school state so does anyone know of great schools for children on the spectrum. Right now my son is in a 12:1-3:1 kindergarten class. They do recommend him to go to 1st grade next year with the possibilty of mainstreaming. Any help would be soooo grateful.

Ranch Creek is in D-20. Contact the principal and get a feel for how accepting the school and staff is. It's a newer school. Only been open a few years, in a more upscale neighborhood.

Thank you so much for your input. I have been stressing on this for months. My realtor told me about Ranch Creek Elementary which I do believe is in D-20.

We are in School District 20 and they have an Autism Specialist and Team. Contact the SPED department for the district (www.asd20.org)and talk to them about school options. You can choice kids into any school in the district if there is availability. Don't know about the other school districts. Stay away from District 49-major problems there. D-11 is more stable. D-12 has a higher socioeconomic base but I don't know what their programs look like. Hope it helps.
