It's IEP time! I hired an attorney to advise re some ongoing issues with school. He gave me a list of evals to request. Does that work?

I spent $150 total -- consultation with the lawyer and the two books. Hands-down the best money I've ever spent on my son. EVERY PARENT OF A SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD SHOULD BUY THESE BOOKS.

I bought the Emotions to Advocacy book, as well as the companion Special Education law book, also by Wrightslaw. OMG. I was so well-prepared for today's meeting. I did my homework and followed the book's suggestions. THANK YOU!

If the school district refuses to evaluate.... or if the school district does the evals but you don't agree with them, then you can request private evals at the the school's expense. Both the above mentioned book and the lawyer will guide you through that process.
