Parenting a child with autism can be very challenging, yet overcoming the challenges of living with the disorder can lead to finding great gifts in the form of life lessons. What have you learned? What are you learning? What are you working on? I have learned patience, compassion, humility, perseverance, gratitude, and unconditional love. I still work on patience, gratitude, and humility constantly. Our kids, what a gift!

I used to be such a judgmental mom when I saw misbehaving kids. I had assumed that the poor behavior reflected poor parenting. Now I want to go back and apologize for all the dirty looks I used to give because I now realize that the kind of strict discipline that works great for NT kids often doesn't work at all for SN kids.

I am learning each day... and even the things i thought i had master are put to the test constantly... so would say i am still learning to be patient, humble and compassionate... when he throws staff at me or just randomly, is when i most often forget patience... i just want to cry and wish to have a way to make him understand that is not ok...

I learned that we are our children's best advocates and that it takes patience, courage, humility and Grace to pursue adequate testings, treatments, and all educational needs separate from the schools assessments.

I learned how to be selfless, how to fight for someone you loved, and that different is ok.

Tottally dissuaded by "No." My children are much loved and adored - and they love and adore me. I'm blessed.
