I'm wondering what experiences people have had with weighted blanket and sleeping through the night. Our son wakes up every night even with medication so his OT suggested a weighted blanket.
Little Man got one a month or two ago and LOVES it. He sleeps with it every night. He didn't really have sleep problems before but he always insisted on having EVERY blanket he owns on (kind of making his own weighted blanket, I guess). Now he just uses the one weighted one.
We have used one with our son for years. He actually asked for it when out of town recently. He also used a weighted lap blanket when he was younger to help him at school and homework time.
My daughter has been using a weighted blanket for about 3 months. She loves it, and there is no sleeping with out it. We also do melatonin, and fight like the dickens to keep her awake in the day. We have put an alarm on her door, so we know if she comes out of her room at night. She only sleeps about 6 hours a night, but she is in her room, and stays there from 8:30 at night until about 6 in the morning. Just do it. I also heard rumor you can purchase a blanket from ebay, and then if you need to upgrade for a bigger one later, they will credit you some money when you send it back towards next one.
Amazing....get two..three..one for home, school and keep in car...great tool when he is worked up away from home.
helps us a lot. My boy currently is using a weighted blanket and a lycra type compression sheet (it is like a tunnel that goes over his mattress too)./
