Have you tried magnesium oil??? I did some reading on it and do 1/2 water and 1/2 magnesium oil ( from a health food store) and put it in a spray bottle and spray 2 sprays in my hand and rub it on the bottom of her feet at bedtime. From the first night I used it, she slept through the night. I also use lavender essential oil on her ear lobes to relax her. Works like a charm! P.s I do not work for any of the companies, lol, I am an RN and have done a lot of research, most people are deficient in magnesium. P.s put it on bottom of feet because it can sting until you are less deficient

Do you have a whole foods nearby. We get Natrol melatonin 1 mg liquid there and we are very pleased

Have you ever looked into using a light box to regulate sleep instead? They are more commonly used for assisting people with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) in places which don't get enough sunlight (like extreme north Alaska and Canada).

A children's sleep disorder clinic prescribed this for a complete inability for us to regulate our daughter's sleep. It fixed the problem almost instantly and with no need for medication whatsoever. It was amazing. Apparently this works by causing the pineal gland to regulate the body to produce more melatonin. (Your child would need to tolerate a very bright light for probably 30 min a day)

While ours was doctor prescribed, and checking with a sleep specialist is probably the best idea, we later learned that there is no need to have a script to buy one. Ours came through insurance and medical supply, but the deductible we paid turns out to be about the retail cost. Apparently medical supply buys these, doubles the retail price, and bills insurance accordingly. Our model goes for around $300 direct. I don't work for them, and I make nothing from the recommendation, but they are the only source we've used, and we've been using this solution for close to 9 years now.

Several times we have stopped briefly to avoid bringing the box on vacation, or just to see if she might self-regulate now. Every time, her sleep situation gets messed up again, and every time, the light box straightens it out again.

Our daughter sits in front of this box for 30 minutes every morning while she has breakfast.

In theory, even sitting in a very bright sunny room every morning could have a similar effect, but this light is MUCH brighter than you could get a room without a glass wall and direct sunlight on a very clear morning.

Got to any nutrition house store. They have NOW brand liquid melatonin which is what we use. They probably have other brands as well. Specialty pharmacy such as hoppers probably carry it as well.

We use melatonin gummies that we buy at target. My kids really like them.
