I am starting to write to the board of education, senator,stars, local media to see if they could make my idea a reality in the Hudson county community.

I think this is a great idea, I wish in my area they have afterschool setting that these kids could have multi skills Sensory tutoring and social skills programs Monday through Thursday 3:30 to 7:30 pm. 8 week programs during summer break. In my area their are 3 private schools that closed because of low enrollment. One of these schools will be ideal for this.

In our area, Des Moines and suburbs, programs are beginning to show up. But they are mostly focused on early intervention and young children. My son is 13 and fortunately our insurance is covering some of ABA for us. We also have no "autism based schools" or specialized programming, especially for that age. The school just sticks him with level 3 kids since he really can't read or write much. I have tried and tried to organize parents to begin something but I just don't get any involvement. It would take a big financial backer to accomplish my dream.

I think this is a great idea. We don't even have any schools focused exclusively on kids on the spectrum. To have a community center to help us would be great. How do I sign up?

I think programs for newly diagnosed kids and parents would be helpful. A kind of boot camp of sorts, let you know in the beginning what to expect. Have afternoon, evening and weekend times with space for therapies with qualified therapists. Training sessions for parents and family members. A babysitting training and list of possible sitters.

I like the idea. I would like to go even further and establish a community like neighborhood. Where you would have like a "gated community" feel and be near others like yourself. A place where everyone is welcome and accepted. There could be on site separate living for when kids transition to adulthood. Pretty much "an assisted living" type center but centered around kids, families and neiborhoods. There could be a community center, park, therapies, pool, fitness center that is my dream
