B12 Shots
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

If you have tried B12 shots please share your story? My husband and I are considering trying the shots with our son after we meet with the DAN doctor. We are just very hesitant about giving out son a shot every 3 days. Did anyone see any results and how soon? Thanks for sharing

Fortunately, our son was an immediate responder to MB12 shots (less than a week to see noticeable improvements) - at least one published study has shown 1/3rd of the kids are immediate responders. We did see increase anxiety as side effects (very temporary and would go away in hours) but that went away in three weeks. The impact of MB12 shot declines after a day for us, so we switched to every other day. Some parents do daily shots. In addition to MB12 and for maximum efficacy, I think supplementing with folinic acid/methyl folate after a few weeks (to support methylation cycle which is what MB12 is for) is also important as well as very low dose lithium which is important for B12 transport and found deficient in ASD kids. Good luck.

My little one participated in a research study on mB12. She showed a mild acceleration of the rate of improvement. Not as dramatic as some of the other things we've tried but enough to make us decide to keep giving the mB12 after the study was over. The professor running the study told me that about 1/3 of kids show major improvement, 1/3 no change, and the remaining 1/3 mild or mixed results (big improvements but also major side effects).
