Socializing
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am looking for anyone who home schools their child, interested in being a support to each other. She needs to socialize with girls her age so I am looking for someone who may be in the same position and would like to get together, in the Johnson City, TN area (tri-cities)

I don't live in TN, but I do homeschool! And I love talking to other families who do, getting input, ideas, or just venting and laughing!

@A MyAutismTeam Member to answer your question, I dont believe she would have a preference, she gets along well with both. She does have dreams of having a best girlfriend so i just went that way. I agree with all you said. My daughter Gets along better with a few years younger because that is where she is at, but she is also to smart fro them too, if that makes sense.

@A MyAutismTeam Member I agree any support is great. thanks for the offer.

Why must she socialize with girls her age? Just curious.
Socializing seems to come much more naturally for my son when it is based on a similar interest rather than gender & age.
His friends (or kids he gets along with more regularly) are almost always a couple of years older or younger, boys and girls. It's funny. He always has difficulties with kids his own age. I'm thing it's because he is usually intellectually 'smarter' than them, but emotionally immature. Kids his age will tease him about these differences whereas older & younger kids are more on one of his levels, so to speak so there is less of a difference.
Sorry, got me thinking out loud there, lol.

I don't live anywhere near you either, but I hope you don't mind me adding you as another fellow homeschooler! :)
