Anybody Know A Good Resource To Help PDD-NOS Kids Find And Plan For A Career After High School?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone know of any resources to help parents of kids on the spectrum guide them to good career choices? My husband and I want to encourage our son to be independent and happy, so we want to start getting him ready for his future.

my son is 14 yrs and has PDD-NOS, what we have done with him is focused on his passions, cars and skateboarding and looked at different things each had for paying jobs. his plans are to be a pro skater with his own clothing line and such, but as a back up he wants to be a mechanic. anytime my car needs anything from air in the tires or checking fluids he always does it. he knows everything he needs to do and if not he works with a family friend to fix my car. (family friend is a mechanic).

Another thing we did was to have him come up with things he wanted to do and see if we could have him shadow for a day. some he thought sounded good but after shadowing for a little bit he saw it wasn't for him.
