I need advise on calming my 4yr old. He is always running back and forth and crashing in to the sofa and climbing other furniture. He verbally stimms when he runs around. Its hard for him to sit still and concentrate on anything. Any ideas on how to calm him down? Thanks.

Use Epsom salt for baths
Or GABA supplement or 1-2 magnesium tablets, you can use magnesium cream. www. Kirkman.comt

There is a blow up round disc you can put on there chair when they sit that may help. Weighted blanket...small one for over his legs when he sits to eat. Weighted vest for a very very short period of time. Weighted ankles..

When my brother would get hyper, he and I would go for a walk. We couldn't really afford a trampoline nor did we have the room for a balance ball. At school, he had everything he needed (professionals, OT, the works) for the most part. But at home, if it was convenient (and not late at night), he and I would take a walk to somewhere he was familiar with and could behave. It's a fine line, but mom and I had to live through lots of upheaval if we couldn't go for a walk.

we use a trampoline at home with our son. But, be careful because if he's on it for too long, it can have an opposite affect of making him more hyper. It's a fine line. I like the balance ball idea. I want to try that too.

He is definitely seeking sensory input. Do you have any old cushions or pillows that he can crash into?
