I have four children 14 11 8 and 7. My 14 and 11 year old are autistic my oldest has sensory issues with sound she gets very irritable and has high anxiety unless she's on her iPod she also does not like to be touched unless it's on her terms my 11 year old son is the opposit he needs constant tactile stimulation weight blanket ect.. Maybe it would be helpful if there was a certain time of day (like for one hour per day after school) that they are just left completely alone. I think it's always helpful to manage expectations. If they can expect to have from x time until y time to do their own thing and then know that after such a time, family time, homework, etc is what's expected it might help them.
