Anyone In PA Denied MA Due To A PDD-NOS Diagnosis?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Got a letter saying my son was denied access to MA because he no longer has a disability according to Social Security Standards. He was just reevaluated last year and has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. In PA, the law states that a child with a diagnosis of Autism automatically qualifies for MA coverage. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I am not sure about a PDD-NOS diagnosis but ASD should qualify him for MA. What diagnosis is on his paperwork? (I realize that PDD-NOS is included in ASD but SS may not recognize it anymore. I would try again and make sure what you give them says Autism or ASD. Good luck!

I am glad you worked it out. I hate that they make everything so hard. Sometimes I think they do things on purpose to test if you will pursue it - they can't be as inept as their number of "mistakes" would indicate

Social Security and the PA state ASERT program informed me he automatically qualifies for assistance. I am assuming the mistake was in the MA office.
