My daughter who is transitioning to kindergarten next year has her ETR/IEP meeting today. Her teacher (who is great) states the team does not think she needs and IEP as she tested average or above on their testing. Do not let them. I put my daughter in a private preschool for one year. When she started Kindergarten they suggested she was doing so well we did not have to restart her IEP. Now in third grade I had to fight to get her on even a 504. I regret not fighting to keep it for the years she did not need it as much, because she did not have it when she did need it.

I agree I would not let them change it because the 504 is more of an agreement were the IEP is a contract. Most of the time they do this to save money because they can cut back on services

Autism is an automatic qualifying condition for an IEP under Federal law so I would be very leery of having them remove the label. Do you have a medical diagnosis on file?

i am not familiar with a 504 but my oldest was on an IEP & at the end of Kindergarten they said he didn't need one, then he fell in the cracks (being a young mother i didn't know any better of how to stay on top of things)what ever you do stay on top of there teachers like white on rice until your positive that your child is doing ok in school
