We do 15 hrs of regular half day preschool (now starting junior kindergarten) and about 12 hrs of 1 to 1 verbal behaviour after school (therapist but supervised by BCBA who only comes once a month at least for any program changes). The number of hours is really dependent on the child and your unique situation. Try to do as much as you can afford or get.

When our son was four, we were able to get him up to about 15 hours of ABA per week. He got a certain amount of speech and OT from the school system, and about 4 or five hours of just being around other kids.

The school system was necessary to get the McKay, so looking back, we would have done that again. But the ABA was the only therapy that helped him make visible progress. Each week, it seemed like they would set a goal (or two), and he would meet the goals.

Studies show that if your child is responding to ABA, then get as much as you can afford. 15 is better than 10, but 25 is better. More is better. Even if you spend a little too much at four, it may save you a lot more down the road.

We had 25 hours/week in special ed autism pre-k and then 20 hours/week of ABA after school. We have I think 2 hours/month approved with the supervising BCBA, 8 hours/month approved with the case manager, and then the rest of the time is with the therapists.

it is going to depend on the childs developmental milestone delayed area for the a.b.a my four yr. old is at max amount of hours per month which is 46 plus has been in prek two years now so if your not getting either i suggest you get on it fast because it will be harder on child to transition..good luck
