Don't mess around. Get the information you need from experts, not google, and be wary of (God bless us!) other parents (including me!). I got a lot of great advice by watching podcasts and iTunes U episodes from Stanford, Yale, and UCSD Mind Institute and also by emailing those researchers since you can always find their email on the university web sites. Your child's school may have a special education PAC and talk to other mom's to find out what is good in your area. Mom's are the best resource.

Doctors who specialize in treating children with autism are called DAN (Defeat Autism Now) doctors. I would ask around about local social networking groups for parents of children with autism and ask the group if there are any DAN doctors in your area.
