Members discussed the best school districts and autism services in the Seattle area, with Bellevue and Lake Washington districts emerging as top contenders despite mixed feedback about costs and program quality. Several members shared personal experiences and plans to try different programs, including the EEU at University of Washington, Seattle Children's Autism Center, and the Kindering Center for younger children, while noting that finding reliable information about special education services can be frustratingly difficult. A recurring theme was that experiences vary significantly depending on the specific elementary school within a district, with some parents ultimately recommending Bellevue over Lake Washington after speaking with families who have navigated the system longer.

sorry for the delay in getting back to you! We've been on a little vacation. Bellevue's great! And expensive! I've spoken with a couple of parents in the area, and it seems it is a bit hit-or-miss, depending on which Elementary you go to in this area. One of my friends has a son at Ardmore, and says they haven't been very helpful. I also know some kids at the very highly rated elementaries in the area that say they are getting tons of support. If it was me, I'd still choose Redmond and the Lake Washington school district I think.

Unfortunately, I haven't found much. My son is only two, so everything we will be doing is through the Kindering Center, who is contracted by the school district to take care of the little ones. It's so terrible that there just isn't great information out there on this kind of thing.

I've heard that also, and actually live in Bellevue now. I'll see if I can find the report I found earlier. Bellevue school district had a company audit their special education department, and the scores didn't look that great. I don't have any reference to know if they are good scores relative to everywhere else or not. Lake Washington School District is where most of the Microsoft employees send their kids, so Im guessing they have a ton of money in that program. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

I'm very interested in this also. I've heard Lake Washington and Bellevue, although it is pretty expensive to live in Microsoft land. I really want my child to get into the EEU at U of Washington(contracted with kids in the Seattle school District), but it's really hard to get in. I'll be trying the Lake Washington district shortly and Seattle Children's Autism Center first. Send me a message in a month or two and I should have some good reports for you.

Having some time to talk with parents who have done this for a while, almost all recommend Bellevue over Lake Washington
