Same thing happened to me, I asked them what the law was. And he (The Director of Early Intervention) told me it was the law they provide services. So I found an outside source and Early Intervention paid they bill. My daughters services was once/wk/for an hour.

Luckily he is already set up to have his eval for preschool. I do have that step taken care of. I am going to talk to his regular Dr. on Monday and see if he has any suggestions for this area. Thank you everyone. You have been a big help.

Il. is not great but we had an hour a week of Speech, OT,( added an extra 1/2 hour of OT combined in a co treat) Physical Therapy, Developmental Therapy &1 1/2 hours of social work during Early Intervention. The extra OT came because the service coordinator could not find a DT. I asked our other therapists and they gave me a list of DT's. I shared with our coordinator and she found someone. You could contact centers and see if they work through EI. Maybe if you are willing to use in home or center based you can get more. I would ask for evaluations for all services offered through EI if there is enough time left to make it worth it. You should also be able to get outside Speech and OT through State or any Insurance. You can keep that when EI ends. Hospitals usually take state coverage and a variety of insurance. Some hospitals even have behavioral therapy and social skills groups. If there is an Easter seals in your area or if EI has a parent Liaison they can help. You can also talk with Autism speaks. I would take notes during your session and follow up with the activities. maybe 3 times a day or how often you can. Be sure to have your child evaluated for preschool as soon as you can, so you can start at 3. Ask your EI therapist to go and support you if possible. I do not know when EI ends in your state. In Il. it ends at 3. If that is the case you might want to focus on outside therapy and preschool. EI should set up preschool evaluation so it can start right away. No gap unless Summer. If outside centers have waiting lists, get on them and call to follow up. It will be ok. Preschool has to be provided.
