You are not alone!!! Very common. I basically had to tell my husband , you will help me, or I will leave and live with my parents (3000 miles away) and you can see the children on holidays and when you feel like flying out.. .He got his shit together ... but still moans and groans and says dumb stuff like " its not like you have a job" I told him next time he says that he can do his own laundry, shopping cleaning ect.. and see how much he likes it..
You're not alone. I suspect this is a very common experience. In his book "Not My Boy", Rodney Pete, the former NFL quarterback who has a son on the spectrum, describes how he did much the same at the beginning of his family's autism journey. Interestingly, he didn't see how not helpful he was being at the time.
I've had a bunch of 'been there, done that' experiences. And have done it as the Dad ;) If any have questions or need an understanding ear, let me know. And if a husband needs some "training" be glad to help there too.
No you are not alone........I am having a very sad lonely day as a matter of fact. I came here so I wouldn't feel so alone. My husband is the same as yours. My family as well. Its like no one really care but me. Although I know it bothers his older brothers and my husband, it seems it does not bother them enough. I do everything as far as researching and getting the help my son needs. Today has been the worst day I have had in a long time. I do feel I need to get with other parents of kids with ASD so he can really have a good time with others that really get him. Today I allowed life path to evaluate my son so I can get help with my son as far as having someone to come over and sit with my son as I run errands. I almost hate I allowed them to evaluate my child. It was awful!!!!!!!!!!They basically where trying to say there wasn't anything wrong with him but his speech. "I'm sure I would just want to make up my child has ASD. I am so sensitive right now and have no one to talk to but you guys that I know understand. I do need to set play dates with other parents. That will be my goal for the month. I put my child in a Music-academic-Spanish-art-theater school the end of last year because I hated public school and all there dam meetings as well that does nothing to help my child. I am now waiting on funding to put my Ashton back into the music school because I did get help from a organization last year that decided it cost to much but said they just didn't pay for school although they paid for summer as well as the end of last year. I am still really confused although my speech therapist said she thought that was the best thing I could have done for my baby. I asked the school if they would except money from a organization to help pay for school(800.00) a month(classes where small ect. lots of attention and plenty of love and affection. (Art- was art therapy) (dance classes every day-more therapy) music class -music therapy) plus academics with children changing classes all day just as we do in high school. Sharing school situation for someone to help me with decision of what the heck to do as far as school( we are waiting on funding decision as well from a different organization. To any of you that have a diagnosis I have organizations on Astons Facebook page with plenty of information to help all of you. This is my life now, I want to help as many parents as I could possibly help since our lives has turned into one BIG puzzle now.
You are not alone, God is with you always, He is at your side always
