My 7-year-old still struggles with his language skills. He knows what he wants to say, but can't find the words or mixes up the words. What's a successful form of therapy to help him with this? I've heard OT, or neuro type therapies tend to help "wake up" that part of the brain. He gets a little private OT, but I'm thinking it's not enough. Any advice would be helpful.
Rob, what info do you need?
Play therapy brings out the fun and words.... do a play pt with you..sibling.. whomever... less stress. We overload them in teaching nonsense.....learn in their fun. What better...learn the tools and follow him and meet up weekly to recharge.....
For neurotherapy, the provider should have experience working with individuals with Autism. they should use a QEEG to map the brain so they can develop an individualize treatment protocol for your child.
RDI stands for Relationship Development Integration. It teaches parents on how to become a "guide" for their child by targeting core deficients of Autism.
What should I be looking for in Neurotherapy, and what is RDI?
Neurotherapy, ABA, and RDI. A good speech therapist is hard to find but the right one can help. Don't teach similar words close together to help him with the mix-up.
