How Do You Get Your Child Back On Track When He Has His Days And Nights Flipped?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Since before Christmas my handsome young man has his days and nights flipped. He is 8 years old and he is sleeping in class. Any ideas?

It sounds like jet lag from around the world. I used to travel with four children, and we gained or lost 11 hours each time. My twins with Autism were really bothered and I think I spent every summer awake at night while they were crying and crying. I was banned from many households! :) I found that changing their medication schedule to the new time worked. Is your guy on meds? This might help. Of course, you should consult his physician. I also used anti-histamine to shorten the process. I know drugs are not a first choice but, they can help for this problem. Please ask your Doctor. Changing light bulbs in your home and his room to non-blue light emitting ones can stimulate the production of melatonin. Also, eating dinner before 6:00 pm and no snacking after that until bedtime and also dimming the lights in the house after dinner and not having TV, computers or games going can also help. Best luck!

Have you tried melatonin? You can see if it works... all natural. Can buy at any pharmacy. It might help get him back on track. His circadian rhythm is off. Poor guy!

That happens with my little guy frequently, you have to ease them back into it, try keeping them awake a couple more hours when they get tired, do this every day till your back on schedule

Have you tried a visual schedule to get him back on track?
