Boys start OT today. Thursdays Child tomorrow & ABA home on Wed. What questions should I be asking therapist? How do you know what therapist is best for your kids??
Make sure you're children are happy and comfortable with the therapist.I would sit in on the therapy and look for connection.I would also look to see if the person genuinely likes their job because it will show, they won't be a robot who's just going through the motions.
Also, make sure you ask them what you can do with them on your own at home.
Is that even possible?? I know my children are very young with such a diagnosis. Would that be that diagnosis is incorrect and that children are just delayed or do you mean that autism can essentially be cured? I know early intervention is key and they have already began ABA therapy, they start OT next week (therapist never started when she said she would be) We are still waiting to hear from speech? I want my children to be happy and obviously typical, but isn't that setting myself up for heartache believing that they can be cured when in fact autism is life long? I know that they can improve drastically, but to be typical is this really something that can be done??
My now 19 month old twins have been diqgnosed with ASD. They have started ABA and will start OT next week still waiting for speech to start
Don't know if this helps, but I have long believed that finding the right person is more important than finding the right professional.pay attention to how they soak to your child or if they don't. Choose the right person.
Thank you so much!! These questions are perfect.
