I personal have found what is called a patient assistance program provided by that you were eligible for the program. I contact d the pharmaceutical company and filled out an application. I qualified because I made less than 80,000 a year. Perfect for me, it took some time but worth the hoops you have to jump through to get the medication that you need. Hope this helps, good luck.

We have found that most Autism organizations are great at getting money for themselves and not for you. Depending where you live, your insurance company helps with most expenses and the co-pays can be covered by your states version of a Children’s Health Insurance Program. There are usually lesser known small organizations that may be local to you that are willing and able to help. Don't be scared to reach out to the company you work for or local businesses for some assistance if needed.Getting funding is only half the battle though, sometimes you may have problems finding a provider for whatever service you need that does not have a lengthy waiting list. Start putting in your name NOW before you even need them.

Over the years we have received funding for medication and services from SSI, Medi-Cal (California), Regional Center (Golden Gate & East Bay), California Children's Services, the Department of Rehabilitation, and private health insurance. https://ca.db101.org/ is a great website we learned about at a resource fair that "gives you tools and information on health coverage, benefits, and employment. You can plan ahead and learn how work and benefits go together." I highly recommend seeking out and attending resource fairs in whatever area you live in, connect with advocacy groups, and legal agencies that offer free workshops.

In NJ, until your child is 18 years old, SSI is dependent on the parent's income - we qualified when my husband lost his job, but were quickly kicked out once he started working again. Our son is currently on Medicaid which we have to pay for (not too bad $85+ per month) with a small copay for visits & scripts. But, I have found that Medicaid does not pay for anything specialized. It does not cover methyl B-12 shots ($70 per month) or private speech therapy (not located within a hospital) or music therapy. It is the cheapest option for us though. Good Luck 😊

If you live in Florida, there's a scholarship for children under 5 years of age called the Gardiner Scholarship. The Gardiner scholarship will pay for approved ASD-related education services, OT, PT, ABA, and parent education. It's about $10,000 a year. Once a child is 5 he or she may qualify for the McKay scholarship, which covers similar services. There's also a scholarship by the Unicorn Foundation for parent training--to be eligible your child needs to be under 36 months of age.

You can also apply to SSI for Medicaid because autism is considered a disability. In FL there are few ABA providers that take Medicaid and there's a long wait once you find one. But it does help with the many other required services, like PT, OT, etc. and standard medical services, dental, and medications.

Hope this helps!
