I just started the medical cannabis treatment in PR for my son. I start with a high dose in cbd and low in thc. He is more attentive but has more energy (hyperactivity) only took 2 days. I'm going to adjust the dose today. I let you know later your results

My son started fluvoximine at age 7 because of high anxiety. It has changed hislife. It was like a light switch turned on his brain. He began to read and became social.
He's 22 now. Reevaluating his meds for excessive self talk and attention. Wasn't privy to ABA in his early years. I could not afford it, $30k. #newchallenges

Never feel guilty. We do the best that we can.

Ultimately, it's up to the parent to medicate or not their child. Natural route might be good for some but not for others. Same goes for medication. What I love on here is that A LOT of parents have come together to express their thoughts on your question. This is exactly why THIS community is so wonderful.

Our son was diagnosed with Autism at 2 1/2. Supposedly mild then. Now over 15 years later, we know that his autism is severe. Non verbal, non potty trained, severe mental delays, etc. However, despite all of these things he is extremely loving and joyful! Thanks God! Early on in his autism though Alex would have extreme meltdowns and outbursts that would last sometimes hours. Consoling him wouldn't work and not much else did. We were hesitate to use medications to control behavior. At 6 1/2 Alex began having severe, grand mal seizures. As a result he began to take a seizure med called Depakote. We discovered that the depakote had a huge, positive affect on his outbursts and tantrums and meltdowns. Sure, they still happened from time to time but not at all with the frequency or severity. This was the only positive side affect of the seizures. We've since discovered that Depakote is also prescribed for people with anxiety disorders, mental struggles, etc.

I have had my son on many medications . Risperidol mainly for aggression behaviors for many years he is now 17 and has NO short term memory and he gets very frustrated because if it so I have recently began titrating him off we are down to 1.5 next week will be 1 and two weeks after down again. I am putting him on CBD and THC so far it's going ok but I'm very cautious and watching closely. We are hoping to regain his memory.
