I live in WI and my 10 year old daughter has managed to get out of the school twice in two weeks despite having a 1:1 aide in her IEP and an adult to be with her 100% of her school day. The special education director told me that they are hiring someone to relieve other staff so that they can keep a better eye on her throughout her school day , i thought this was what her aided was for. I am terrified to send her to school, what do i do?
And im going to have what you said added in :)
Her teacher told me that maybe she needs 1:1 all day, whuch tells me they havent been doing this. And the special ed director saud they are searching for someone to hire to cover othet staff so she has more supervision. If i had known they havent been hacmving her aude with her all day i would have brought it up so much sooner. The wi dept of public instruction told me the way its worded in her iep can mean different things. Very irritating thst in order to keep her safe it has to be documented and a certain way.
Yikes! Well obviously she isn't being provided the 100% para coverage as I'm the IEP. What is the school's answer to this situation? Does their para take breaks and is your daughter then uncovered? With my son, he has a substitute para at his side if his primary needs to attend to other duties - even a bathroom break for the primary para gets my boy a substitute. Is this something the school can provide?
