been planning the move for a while but my son was just diagnosed, now I'm not sure where I should be looking to relocate to, so, if you could choose where to live in Texas with an ASD child where would that be and why? I have been looking at homes in Bryan/College station but I'm not sure if that would be best for him now. I'm coming from California with wife and my other son(2 months).
I would stick to suburbs of major cities. We lived in Fort worth for 3.5 years. TCU has amazing resources for autism families. The Keller ISD has very good services. Once your child turns 3 he will transition from ECI to the preschool. We also used Behavioral Interventions for ABA and were very pleased with the clinic, although that was 2 years ago. Jump Start Speech therapy in Keller or maybe they were in Saginaw, was fantastic, the owner Lauren was hands down the best speech therapist we have ever had, and we have had many!!! We are military so a lot of these extra services where covered by our insurance. I would also consider San Antonio area, we had many friends stationed in that area and were very pleased with services, but I cant speak to where exactly.
Copperas Cove. They're not the biggest or the richest, but they have an amazing staff and programs. I can't speak highly enough about them.
Irving/Dallas has several places and schools you can get your child help. Also recommend you see a good DAN doctor.
