who would be the best person to advice the mother on how to handle puberty and also what does one do about periods?

My wife is an RN and claims there are drugs to stop periods https://www.livestrong.com/article/236237-drugs.... I worry that it would affect our daughter's development but she hasn't hit puberty yet so it's not an issue now.
