My 7 year old son has autism, and he soaks his pull ups through the night. Are there any tips or advice to combat this? Many thanks Steve
@A MyAutismTeam Member I know pull-ups are expensive. Trust Me! All 3 were in them for far too long; However, you have to make this a non-issue on your part. He WILL grow out of it. Make certain he goes before bed and as soon as you wake him. What I found was my son was staying dry until just before I woke him and then his bladder would empty right before time to get up. He has to be on a strict bedtime schedule for this to be noticeable by the way. When I realized he could hold his pee that long, I knew it wouldn’t be long before he would begin to wake up dry and get to the potty. Sure enough, that is exactly what happened. It was the same with my daughter as well. Until then, please try to stay calm about it. And use a medical supply site. They are cheaper, they deliver in discreet packaging, and you can choose from different styles that hold less or more depending on what you’re attempting to accomplish.
at 13, my PDD-NOS son decided that, since it was my birthday, he was done with pull-ups. he's had a few accidents since then, but it has been life-changing! Point is, he'll let you know when he's ready.
@A MyAutismTeam Member Is he potty trained during the day? If he is, then in my experience, he’ll outgrow the need for pull-ups around 13 years or so. We bought them from a medical supply site for years. They’re much cheaper and have options for larger bladders.
My son is 12 and still bed wets. I’ve tried everything with no avail. Limiting beverages, potty before bed. Reward system. I’ve even set alarms to wake myself in the middle of the night to take him. I’ve done pull-ups for many years, even the adult kind. I’ve been buying diapers for 12 years. Any suggestions? He’s fully potty trained during the day.
My son is not allowed to drink much after 7. He also goes to the potty several times before his actual bedtime. My guy is 3 so it is fairly easy at his age.
