Both my husband and I have always told him that he needs more help than others, and that it was ok.
One reason we never told him, he would’ve used it as a crutch. Sometimes he’ll try to now, and I tell him, to not even go there.
He ended up asking on his own at the age of 18. He’s irritated by it and hurt, but not to the point where I worry. He’s just aware.

We just told our grandson this year and he is 11.
