I'm seeking to put my daughter in some type of extracurricular activities. I have googled a few to see where are the resources of places that only pertains to children with ASD but I am having no luck. I want her to get involved with other kids and build a relationship. If anyone knows a few places or website, please let me know.
Area: around Long Beach, Compton, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Downey, Huntington Beach, etc
Thank you
No problem
When people are doubtful of our children all we have to do is remind them and ourselves of famous people like Dan Akyroid, Jerry Seinfeld, or even Thomas Jefferson to name a few. All of them were or are on the spectrum and had a lot to show for themselves. They had the ASD, but the ASD didn't have them.
Speak to those instructors with confidence while reassuring them that your daughter really enjoys the class. And that through repetition she will excell just like the other students. Keep in mind dance is another form of occupational therapy and socialization all in one. It's soooo beneficial in many more areas than one!
The YMCA in my area of Pa used to have a swimming class for kids with special needs.
Everything I've had her involved in (which is a lot) was not with kids with special needs though.
Sorry for getting back to you late but I will most definitely keep that in mind for next session we go to. This truly helped me.
Thank you for this !
Every time I talk to certain instructors, I do so when my daughter isn't around. I will explain to them that she as ASD and so I don't want them to get frustrated with her. It shows in their tone and facial expression and she see's that. But I always encourage her to be the best she can and give her uplifting words. I just wish more people understood and so they don't have their own persona about a child.
I'm definitely going to use your slogan about the warriors and not worryors. This will come a long way. Thanks again
