IEP Ending
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello Everyone,
I had a meeting last week for my kindergartener and the IEP team is telling me there ending her IEP for next year. Which means no speech, OT, or aide. The problem is I don’t think my child is quite ready since there is some behaviors still going on in class and also has to be redirected throughout the day. The IEP team is suggesting a 504 for next year. Should I be worried? Any families going through something similar?

The school says my daughter no longer qualifies for the IEP because her autism at this time is not impacting her academics. Which means no more supports outside of classroom. The 504 is accommodations in the classroom which I won’t know what they will be until the beginning of next school year. I just feel like its to soon since she will be going to 1st grade.

My son's IEP had never ended but services that I thought he could use like OT for instance were put on consult instead of a regular basis. It seems to me like sometimes they try to do less than they should....
